What consultation options for concerns of facial volume?
Concerns relating to facial volume are assessed on an individual basis through a comprehensive, in-person consultation. Volume changes can occur as part of the natural ageing process, as well as due to genetics, lifestyle factors, and overall skin health.
During your consultation, a qualified clinician will carefully assess your facial structure, skin quality, and areas of concern to determine whether medical aesthetic treatment options may be appropriate for you. Treatment planning focuses on supporting facial balance, structure, and natural-looking rejuvenation, while prioritising safety and suitability.
All recommendations are tailored to the individual and based on clinical assessment, medical history, and personal goals. Outcomes and longevity vary between individuals and cannot be guaranteed. Any potential risks, considerations, and expected results will be discussed in detail during your consultation before proceeding.
Specific treatment approaches and suitable areas can only be discussed once a thorough assessment has been completed by a qualified practitioner.

Contours of the face
Over time, changes can occur in facial anatomy, including alterations in soft tissue volume, underlying fat pads, and bone structure. These changes may contribute to differences in facial contours, proportions, and the appearance of lines or folds.
Individual variation means that the extent and rate of these changes differ between people. Factors such as significant weight change, illness, stress, lifestyle habits, and aging may influence how these changes are expressed, although the impact varies for each individual.
These observations are general in nature and intended for educational purposes; they are not intended to imply that any specific treatment can prevent or reverse these changes.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the procedure entail?
The first step to addressing the signs of ageing and volume loss here at Eltham Cosmetic Clinic is thorough consultation with one of our team members..
This is the perfect, pressure-free opportunity to go through any queries and concerns you have, and there are no silly questions! We provide as much information and education at this part of the process as we can, to ensure you feel comfortable and ready to proceed.
We can schedule a consultation on its own, with no obligation to commit to treatment on the same day, or you can schedule both consultation and treatment on the same day if that suits you.
During your consultation, your nurse will conduct a thorough assessment of your medical status and history, medications, allergies, lifestyle factor, and any other factor that may render you unsuitable for this type of treatment. We also conduct a consultation with one of our resident doctors here in the clinic.
Before photographs are taken, which remain confidential, and kept on file as a record of the baseline prior to performing any treatments. If needed for the area of treatment you are having, anaesthetic is applied, and when you are feeling ready to go ahead, the magic happens!
After your procedure, your nurse will go through the post-procedural instructions and aftercare information, which will also be given to you in paper form to refer back to at home if needed. We are here for any follow-up queries you may have, and if you are concerned at all with anything following your treatment, feel free to reach out to the nursing team.
Does the treatment hurt?
Depending on the treatment area and individual circumstances, measures such as topical cooling or topical anaesthetic may be considered prior to treatment. In some cases, a local anaesthetic may be used if clinically appropriate. The use of any anaesthetic is determined following assessment and discussion with your practitioner.
Procedures may involve varying levels of discomfort, which can differ between individuals and treatment areas. Prior to treatment, your practitioner will explain what to expect and discuss potential sensations associated with the procedure to support informed consent.
After treatment, you will be provided with post-procedure care instructions, including information on aftercare, expected short-term effects, and when to seek further medical advice. You will also be advised on activities to avoid during the immediate post-treatment period. If you experience unexpected or concerning symptoms following treatment, you should contact the clinic or seek medical advice.
Will people know I've had treatment?
The approach to treatment is guided by individual facial anatomy and clinical assessment, so if this treatment is deemed suitable for you, the ultimate results will be natural and of a discreet nature. However with any treatment of this nature, there are some normal and expected immediate post-treatment outcomes that may be visible such as swelling, redness, and bruising, which may e visible to others. Our team always make our clients thoroughly aware, as well as ensuring full understanding before consenting, of all potential outcomes from the treatment both short-term and long-term.
Temporary effects such as swelling, redness, or bruising may occur following these procedures. These effects are common and typically occur in the immediate post-treatment period, though their severity and duration vary between individuals. Your practitioner will discuss potential side effects and post-treatment expectations during consultation and provide guidance on aftercare and monitoring.
