About PDO Threading

PDO threads are tiny filaments of collagen-stimulating substance (polydioxone), which is an absorbable polymer that is flexible and durable, yet soft and undetectable.

PDO threads naturally stimulate the production of collagen, specifically around the thread itself. PDO threads work by triggering the body to naturally strengthen and rebuild thin, crepey skin, re-structure damaged or scarred skin, and provide structure and support from within.

Stimulate Collagen & Boost Your Skin

The tiny threads are gently placed beneath the skins' surface, By stimulating your body to naturally produce collagen around the threads themselves, a tightening effect is created, with the threads also becoming a soft structural support for the face. PDO threads are introduced into the skin in a mesh-like pattern; reinforcing and structurally supporting the skin from within.

Gradually, the threads themselves are absorbed harmlessly into the body, leaving behind only the natural collagen they stimulated. The results last 6-12 months after your treatment and we recommend 10-12 monthly maintenance treatments to sustain your beautiful results.

  • • Your First Visit

There is no obligation or pressure to go ahead with treatment on the day; clients are always invited to attend a consultation without having to go through with the treatment the same day. We do require clients to ensure they've booked for both consult and treatment if they wish to go ahead, or to book consultation only for that visit.

For all pricing and quotes for various treatments, we’ll need to meet you in person and provide you with an assessment face-to-face, to get to know your unique needs and to ensure you ave the very best guidance, advice and treatment plan.

  • • Ideal For A Range Of Facial Areas

PDO Threads are inserted into the sub dermal level, in a mesh-like pattern, to promote the creation of new collagen. The threads activate collagen synthesis which produces a gradual skin thickening, skin tightening and rejuvenation effect.

Our love for these innovative little threads comes from being able to address areas of the face and body that slip through the cracks in terms of treatment suitability... Some areas are unsuitable for one reason or another, for dermal fillers, but also can't be treated with anti-wrinkle injections... That's where PDO threads provide the perfect solution, that is not similar to either!

Using this innovative approach, we can address upper and lower cheeks, forehead and brows, neck and jawline, nose to mouth lines, marionette lines, arms, buttocks and abdomen.

PDO threads treatments are performed by our Registered Nurses, who routinely perform cosmetic injectable procedures, and have undergone specialised training with PDO threads.

FAQs

Do threads give a 'brow lift', or can they create the 'Fox Eye' look?

There is a multitude of types of threads on the market, and various forms of media are awash with differing images of thread procedures, so it can be tricky for clients to tell which threads are for what purpose.

PDO Monofilament threads are inserted just beneath the skin, to purely tighten and improve the turgor and resilience of the skin local to where they're placed. The types of threads that can 'pull' or 'lift' sections of the face are known as anchoring threads, which are generally longer and thicker, and have small barbs along them which tether to skin and are gently pulled to reposition the skin.

Here at Eltham Cosmetic Clinic we aren't offering these types of thread procedures, but have trusted Doctors in Victoria and Sydney that we refer our clients to who are desiring this type of treatment.

Do PDO thread treatments hurt?

Generally our clients find the experience of having the threads inserted into place comfortable, due to the application of topical aesthetic beforehand, and also because of the quick and efficient nature of the treatment. The needles used in the insertion of PDO threads are very small indeed, and most of the procedures take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete.

Are PDO threads safe?

Yes. The PDO threads themselves were stringently tested and approved by the Therapeutic Goods A of Australia, and in our clinic, are only used by our experienced Registered Nurses. The substance they are made of is similar to that used in sutures used in surgical procedures, such as those used internally that naturally dissolve of their own accord.

The PDO threads brand we choose at Eltham Cosmetic Clinic holds (insert certificate her) certification.

Will I have bruising and swelling?

We like to be as upfront as well can regarding downtime with our clients; and PDO threads being of a superficial nature when placed into the skin, can cause bruising to the area being treated. Everyone is different and unique when it comes to bruising; some clients don't notice a lot of post-treatment bruising or swelling, whereas others who are more prone can expend bruising for up to ten days in the more significant cases.

Bruising is a natural response of the body, and doesn't occur because of technique or lack of precision; it's simply due to the highly vascular nature of our skin, and can be expected with many of our injectable treatments or treatments involving making small pictures to the skin surface.

We don't advise applying makeup for twelve hours following your procedure, but after this time you may gently apply a mineral makeup to the area if need be. Some clients find that regular makeup products aren't adequate in covering the darker bruises they sustain, so we recommend scheduling your threads treatment around your social calendar.
